Centennial Fire Protection Project FAQ

The existing fully functioning fire protection system is being upgraded to a new digital, addressable, and voice evacuation system. This is a routine process for fire protection renewal. There are no issues with the system that is currently in place.

The existing fire protection system will continue to fully function as new components are installed.

The fire protection system upgrade will take 12 months to complete. Work regarded as the least disruptive is occurring when the building is occupied by residents.

During the first phase of the project in spring of 2023, only mechanical and public spaces will be affected. Housing & Residential Life will update this page and notify residents when work is scheduled to begin in other areas of the building. The work will produce recurring noise and vibration for periods of time while core drilling and hammer drilling occurs.

Work will stop on April 28, 2023 and will not resume until after the end of spring semester.
