Temporary Housing

We are offering temporary housing to ensure that students who have been guaranteed housing have a place to live on campus. The incoming class of first year students is higher than in recent years, and as a result housing space is extremely limited. We want to provide as many students as possible the opportunity to live on campus because of the benefits it provides, including the opportunity to make friends. Research shows that living on campus is a key factor in academic success.

From experience, we know that spaces will open up through the fall semester as individual student’s situations change. So, we have confidence that we will be able to offer a permanent space and will do so as soon as space opens.

Your stay in your temporary housing space could last from two weeks to the entire fall semester. Our plan is to move students out of temporary spaces as quickly as possible, but it is uncertain when permanent space will become available.

When you receive a permanent room assignment, you will have 7 days (5 business days) to move to your permanent assignment. Moving carts will be available for your move. If moving across campus, curb to curb transportation can be arranged with Housing & Residential Life.

The temporary housing spaces with 4 residents are ample size and approximately twice the size of a typical double room.

Temporary housing assignments will include up to 4 people per space.

You will have access to the same amenities/furniture as permanent housing spaces. These include:

• Standard residence hall bed and twin XL mattress
• Wardrobe 
• Dresser or portable dresser unit  
• Desk or lounge table for study space
• Windows with window coverings
• Emergency alarm
• A lockable door

Unfortunately, due to on-campus housing being extremely full, your housing preferences will not be taken into account for your permanent housing assignment. You may be moved to any residence hall or apartment within on-campus housing for your permanent assignment, and any room configuration.
