Diners scattered throughout the Sanford dining hall

Dining & Meal Plans

Perfect for students on the go

With an M Dining meal plan, there’s no need to worry about buying groceries or cooking. You’re just a U Card swipe away from breakfast, lunch, and dinner! The wide variety of plans and food options ensures that you’ll be able to eat healthy, balanced meals every day.

There are six dining halls on campus, and over 26 retail restaurants operated by M Dining, including Starbucks, Panda Express, Subway, Chick-fil-A, and more.

COVID-19 Update

Safety is a top priority, and the Maroon and Gold Sunrise Plan outlines expectations for residence hall students to slow the spread of COVID-19. Presently, only residents may visit their assigned dining hall.

Diners are expected to adhere to required safety guidelines, including using face coverings, distancing, sanitizing hands often, and using the OpenTable reservation system whether dining in or taking their meal to go.

Meal Plans

Meal plans provide consistency with a set number of meals per week. Each time you eat in a residential restaurant, one meal is subtracted from your plan.

A meal plan is required for students assigned to residence halls. A meal plan is not required for residents living in Keeler, Radius, Wilkins, and Yudof Hall. Pricing is determined by the participation of residents in the past, not by the total amount of meals. Weekly meals in residence hall meal plans will renew every Monday, and unused meals will expire at that time. Block meal plans are available for students living in an apartment and will expire at the end of the semester. Meals are not transferable to others. Guests can purchase individual meals with FlexDine, cash, credit card, check, or Gopher GOLD.

Residence Hall students may request a change to their Fall Semester meal plan during the first two weeks of class. See Dining FAQs for details.

FlexDine is included with every meal plan. It works like cash to purchase beverages, snacks, or full meals in dining halls, as well as on-campus cafés, restaurants, and convenience stores.

FlexDine is loaded onto your U Card and can be used to pay for meals at all on-campus M Dining Markets, Food Courts and Restaurants, and Coffee Shops. Dining on the go is easy with FlexDine: choose from Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, Subway, French Meadow Bakery & Café, and more!

You can add additional FlexDine in $25 increments anytime online or calling M Dining at 612-624-0558. Unused FlexDine will carry over from one semester to the next semester unless you go an entire year without any activity on your account.

Order ahead from on-campus restaurants. Use your U Card to pay with FlexDine or a credit card and place your order.
