Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
Keep your room at the right temperature and humidity by following heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) guidelines for your building.
Proper use of HVAC systems helps maintain optimal air quality, regulates temperature, and prevents issues like mold or energy waste.
Temperature Control
The temperature control thermostat provides increased energy efficiency by monitoring room occupancy and adjusting the temperature based on pre-set temperature limits.
Temperature Setting
Press the arrow buttons to adjust the temperature in the room.
Temperature Sensors
Temperature sensors are installed in the room to improve energy efficiency. The sensors rely on a clear line-of-sight to operate and should remain unobstructed.
Fan
Leave the fan control on and always set at medium speed. If selected, the low speed or high speed is available.
Cool/Heat
Dial the thermostat temperature control to a cooler setting during warmer weather and to a warmer setting during cooler weather.
On/Off
Always leave the temperature control on.
Fan
The thermostat fan speed can be regulated by adjusting the fan control (i.e., low, medium, high).
Cool/Heat
Dial the thermostat temperature control to a cooler setting during warmer weather and to a warmer setting during cooler weather.
Dehumidifier
The dehumidifier helps control excess moisture in the room and is to be powered on whenever the hygrometer reaches 55%.
The temperature control thermostat provides increased energy efficiency by monitoring room occupancy and adjusting the temperature based on pre-set temperature limits.
On/Off
Always leave the temperature control on.
Fan
Leave the fan control on and always set at medium speed.
- If selected, the low speed or high speed is available.
- The auto speed should not be selected.
Cool/Heat
Set the temperature control to cool during warmer weather and to heat during cooler weather.
Temperature Setting
Press the warm/cool arrow buttons to adjust the temperature in the room.
Temperature Sensors
Temperature sensors are installed in the room to improve energy efficiency. The sensors rely on a clear line-of-sight to operate and should remain unobstructed.
Mode
Always leave the temperature control on. The preferred mode is auto, which automatically selects heat or cool based on room temperature demand.
- If selected, the heat setting should only be used to heat during cooler weather.
- If selected, the cool setting should only be used to cool during warmer weather.
Fan
Leave the fan control on and always set at medium speed (two bars).
- If selected, the low speed (one bar) or high speed (three bars) is available.
- The auto speed should not be selected.
Temperature Setting
Press the warm/cool arrow buttons to adjust the temperature in the room.
Fan
Always leave the fan control on.
System (Cool Mode)
Place the system in cool mode when the outside air temperature is above 65 degrees. Placing the system in cool mode when the outside air temperature is below 65 degrees will damage the cooling/heating unit.
System (Heat Mode)
Place the system in heat mode when the outside air temperature is below 65 degrees.
Temperature Setting
Press the arrow buttons to adjust the temperature in the room. Do not set the thermostat below 65 degrees as this will damage the cooling/heating unit.
Cooling/Heating Alarm
If an alarm is emanating from the cooling/heating unit, please contact maintenance immediately.
System (Cool Mode)
Place the system in cool mode when the outside air temperature is above 70 degrees.
System (Heat Mode)
Place the system in heat mode when the outside air temperature is below 65 degrees.
Cool/Heat
Dial the thermostat temperature control to a cooler setting during warmer weather and to a warmer setting during cooler weather.
Ventilation Grills
The ventilation grills provide the necessary free flow of air and should remain unobstructed. The front of the cooling/heating unit should also remain unobstructed.
Windows
The window should remain closed to increase energy efficiency.
Maintenance Requests
Submit a Fix It request for a maintenance concern (e.g., moisture detected near a cooling/heating unit).
