Summer Housing
General Information
Summer housing options are available to students who need it. Stay with us in University housing May 14-August 2. You choose the exact dates you stay, and will be billed based on those dates.
- Current spring residence hall students will be able to sign up to move to Pioneer on May 14, the morning after their hall closes.
- A one-week minimum stay is required in halls, two weeks minimum in apartments.
- Summer assignments are based on room availability and the date applications are received.
- Date changes and cancels can be made up to 5 days prior to a student's chosen check-in date.
Requirements
- For summer 2020, students who were spring 2020 enrolled students and/or will be fall 2020 enrolled students are eligible to stay in Summer housing whether or not they are taking a class.
- Students must be in good financial standing with the University.
- All students in summer housing without a fall semester University of Minnesota housing contract must vacate their stummer space by the date in their housing contract. The lates date for an apartment is August 2 and for a residence hall is August 15.
- A University of Minnesota student ID number and U Card are required to apply.
- A meal plan is required for students in a residence hall during June 8-July 31.

Meal Plans
A meal plan is required for residents in Pioneer Hall June 8-July 31. $20.35 per day for all access. No flexdine required.
Pioneer Dining Hall will open on Monday, May 18.

1:00 - 4:30p, Light Lunch (Soup, Salad, Deli)
4:30 - 6:00p, Dinner (including Continental Breakfast Items for "to-go")
Students who wish to have their meal plan activated prior to June 8 should email [email protected]. The charges will be based on the date your plan is activated through Sunday, June 7 -- at which point your mandatory plan will be activated and you will be charged based on the length of your housing contract. Please note: once you have activated your meal plan, it will be active through the end of your contract. Plans cannot be activated for specific dates.
Pioneer Dining Hall accepts FlexDine, cash, debit/credit cards, and Gopher GOLD. The door rate is $10.50 for Lunch/Light Lunch and $11.90 for Dinner, plus tax when using a payment method other than FlexDine.
Note: Meal plans are optional for residents in Keeler, Radius, and Yudof.
Billing
- Charges for Summer School Housing will be posted to student accounts the last week of May.
- A $50 Housing Application Fee will be charged for a completed application (unless the $50 was previously paid for the 2019-2020 academic year).

- There are no refunds for early move out.
