Dates & Move-In Appointments
Last updated: May 2026
Housing & Residential Life arranges a staggered move-in schedule each year for residents moving into our residence halls and apartments. This is done to minimize traffic (both on the roads and in our buildings), and it ensures new students arrive in time for Welcome Week.
Are you requesting an assignment change? Your move-in reservation will automatically be deleted if you get a new room/building assignment. You must make a new move-in reservation even if your new assignment is in the same building.
Dates & Reservations
Moving Into a Residence Hall or Wilkins
All residents are required to schedule a move-in time to enable an efficient and organized process. Please only arrive during your move-in appointment, and confirm your schedule before making an appointment.
Are you part of a group that requires you to move in early (Marching Band, MCAE Kickoff, or certain student jobs)? Your group will provide information regarding your move-in. You will not reserve a Move-In Appointment.
Early Move-in: Sunday, August 30, 2026 or Monday, August 31, 2026
Are your family/helpers unavailable to assist you on Monday, August 31 or Tuesday, September 1 or Wednesday, September 2? We have limited early move-in appointments available during the afternoon and early evening on Sunday, August 30 and throughout the day on August 31. You will be charged $40 per night to move in early. Go to the "Early Arrivals & Move-ins" tab for more information.
First-Year Students: Tuesday, September 1, 2026 and Wednesday, September 2, 2026
All first-year students can move in on Monday, August 30 or Tuesday, September 1 or Wednesday, September 2. Appointments are available every half hour.
Due to the large number of students arriving, we will have some assistance at the residence halls and Wilkins to help with move-in. Please follow their directions; our goal is for you to arrive, check in, and unload your vehicle in 10-15 minutes. You or your helper must then move your car to the designated parking before returning to continue unpacking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available for meal plan holders in the dining halls, and your helper will be able to buy a meal if they wish to eat with you.
Students can move in after Monday, August 31 or Tuesday, September 1 or Wednesday, September 2 if those dates do not work, but assistance will not be available. From Thursday, September 3 to Sunday, September 6, you can arrive anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the day you select when reserving your move-in appointment. Please note that Welcome Week activities begin in the late afternoon on Wednesday, September 2 for first-year students.
Transfer Students Attending Welcome Week: Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Wednesday, September 2 is reserved for transfer students participating in Welcome Week activities. You can select a move-in appointment to arrive any time between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
There will be moving carts available for checkout from your building Information Desk on these dates, but no assistance will be available.
All other students (returning residents and transfer students not attending Welcome Week): Saturday, September 5 - Monday, September 7
All other residents can arrive anytime between Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7. You can arrive anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the day you select when reserving your move-in appointment.

Moving Into Keeler or Yudof
Students assigned to Keeler or Yudof are welcome to reserve an appointment to move in anytime on or after Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 8 a.m.
We will not have volunteers available, so you will need to move in without assistance. We will have carts available to check out.
If you will arrive on Saturday, August 15, 2026 (the start of your apartment contract)
You will select a 30-minute appointment. These 30 minutes are for the time you will need to arrive, check in and unload your belongings. You or one of your helpers should then move your vehicle to the nearby parking (instructions on where to park will be provided). You will then have as much time as you want to unpack and arrange your apartment.
If you want to arrive between Saturday, August 16 and Monday, August 31, 2026
You will select a day when making your move-in appointment. You can arrive anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the day you select.
Please note: We strongly recommend Keeler and Yudof residents move in before Sunday, August 30 to avoid the road congestion that happens when students move into the residence halls.
