Family pushing full moving carts

Dates & Appointments

Housing & Residential Life arranges a staggered move-in schedule each year for residents moving into our residence halls and apartments. This is done to minimize traffic (both on the roads and in our buildings), and it ensures new students arrive in time for Welcome Week.

Are you requesting an assignment change? Your move-in reservation will automatically be deleted if you get a new room/building assignment. You must make a new move-in reservation even if your new assignment is in the same building.

Dates & Reservations

Moving Into a Residence Hall

All residents are required to schedule a move-in time so we can support an efficient and organized process. Please only arrive during your move-in appointment, and confirm your schedule before making an appointment.

Please note: Some programs require students to move in earlier (for example Marching Band, MCAE Kickoff, and certain student jobs). Limited unassisted appointments will be available on August 28 (fees may apply; go to the Early Arrivals & Move-in tab to learn more).

Early Move-in: August 28

Want to have fewer people around when you move in? Or are your family/helpers unavailable to assist you on August 29 or 30? We have limited early move-in appointments available during the afternoon and early evening on Sunday, August 28. Go to the "Early Arrivals & Move-ins" tab for more information.

First-Year Students: August 29 and 30

All first-year students can move in on August 29 or 30. Appointments are available every half hour.

Due to the large number of students arriving, we will have volunteers at the residence halls to help with move-in. Please follow their directions as this will move quickly (our goal is for you to arrive, check in, and unload your vehicle in 10-15 minutes). You or your helper should then move your car to designated parking before returning to continue unpacking. Lunch and dinner will be available for meal plan holders in the dining halls.

Students can move in after August 29 or 30 if those dates do not work, but volunteer assistance will not be available. You can arrive any time between 8 am and 8 pm on the day you select when reserving your move-in appointment.

Second-Year & Transfer Students Attending Welcome Week: August 31

This date is reserved for sophomores and transfer students participating in Welcome Week activities. You can arrive any time between 8 am and 8 pm on the day you select when reserving your move-in appointment.

There will be moving carts available for check out from your building Information Desk on these dates, but no volunteer assistance will be available.

All other students (returning residents and transfer students not attending Welcome Week): September 3-5

All other residents can arrive anytime between September 3 and 5. You can arrive any time between 8 am and 8 pm on the day you select when reserving your move-in appointment.

There will be moving carts available for check out from your building Information Desk on these dates, but no volunteer assistance will be available.
